Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer's faith in a crucified, buried and risen Savior, the believer's death to sin, burial to the old life, and the resurrection to walk in the newness of life in Christ.
During the Lord's Supper, Jesus took a loaf of bread and gave thanks to God. As He broke it and gave it to His disciples, He said, "'This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.' In the same way, after the supper He took the cup, saying, 'This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.'" (Luke 22:19-21) We take part in this sacred ordinance to remember what Christ has done for us.
